研究興趣

    我的研究興趣是以物理科學在醫學上的應用為主,內容包含了有: 醫學影像(如電腦斷層攝影、核子醫學斷層攝影、核磁共振造影的成像原理與影像處理);醫學放射物理( 放射治療相關附屬設備的關發、輻射劑量原理與量測、人員吸收劑量的量測與風險評估);還有一些非游離 輻射的醫學應用(如:微波加熱治療、行動電話電磁波與人體健康)。 有人說:「一張清楚又有意義的照片,勝過千言萬語的描述」;在 醫學領域裡,這種描述也是完全相通的。不論現今之醫學診斷或治療,端賴清楚又有意義的醫學影像的配合, 才可能達到它的目的。而今天醫學影像的發展,已經不再是傳統的「X光照相」而已;它已經涵蓋了許多最新 科技的整合,諸如:電腦應用、程式設計、網路傳輸、媒體設計、光電半導體物理、以及臨床醫學和大體解剖 的知識。當我們能夠從體外(非侵入性)的斷層影像掃瞄,進而診斷出體內的一些病變,甚至有能力將之治療 而痊癒,心中那種滿足與成就感,往往是讓我們多年來持續教導學生及研究的原動力。最近我們正利用最新的 影像造影設備(如正電子斷層掃瞄、功能性磁振造影),來探討大腦功能(包括思考、認知、情緒、運算)的 神秘世界,其中的發現與進展,更是讓我們興奮莫明。 有人也對「輻射線」產生無謂的恐懼感,卻不知道原來「輻射線」可 以對人類健康帶來相當大的貢獻。「水可以載舟,但也可以覆舟」,生活中的許多事物,往往帶來正、負兩面 的影響。而人類的智慧便是,如何充分應用其正面的效益,進而也避免其負面影響造成我們生活上的威脅。如 果我們用更積極的態度,來研究瞭解「輻射線」的原理及其生物效應,並正確地評估其使用之風險,那我們便 能充分地來使用它,如在醫學上的應用:包括醫學影像之診斷與放射腫瘤治療等等。
